What happens in a surf lesson with Surf & Sun?
You need to book a time and date with our office. You can join an existing group or book a group of your friends.
About 15 minutes prior to your class we get you to meet at our trailer at the beach. You will meet our team at one of our mobile surf school offices where you are kitted out with your full length wetsuit, rash vest and soft surfboard. Surf boards are either Softlite, softtech or Mick Fanning Soft Boards.
Your instructor will take you for a warm up, teach you about surf safety including how to identify and get out of a rip and then run through the parts of the surf board. You are then on the beach learning the basics including how to catch waves, how to stand up, how to correctly dismount and how to fall off safely.
After this it is into the surf for around 1.5 hours where you can put all the practise into action! In the water you will be catching waves in waist deep water, hooting, cheering, laughing and standing up surfing for the first time. After the surf session, you will come back to the beach, and help to wash off your wetsuit.
Minimum numbers apply. If your group lesson has less than 3 people you may need to upgrade to a private lesson.
