Moana Beach

The Mid Coast Surfing Reserve is a designated area along the coast recognised for its great surfing conditions.

Moana Beach, in South Australia, was established in the 1800s and quickly became a popular vacation and weekend destination for Adelaide beachgoers who could take the train and walk the final mile or two. Following the Duke's legendary arrival in Australia, Moana became the first stop for the newly initiated to hone their skills in crafts of all kinds and sizes.

The Moana Surf Life Saving Club features a board that was reputedly moulded by the Duke during one of his trips and given to an early member of the Moana SLSC. The beach breaks vary depending on the sandbars and tides, but they are a wonderful place to learn to surf. Surf & Sun use the beach for this reason.

It is ideal for surfing, but it also allows for other water sports such as swimming, snorkelling, and paddleboarding. With its clean look, clear waters, and great learner waves, it's no surprise that this reserve has become a popular surfing destination in Australia. Whether you're a beginner or an expert surfer,  this spot is definitely worth checking out if you're looking for an unforgettable surfing experience.

Surf & Sun Learn to surf lessons operate daily at Moana beach throughout the year on demand. We also offer surf groms Moana for your kids to enjoy the sport as well.
